Electrical installation planning stages

Planning the electrical network in a new building includes three main stages. Their order is very important, because it will allow you to bring improvements or additions over time, without needing structural changes.

Stage 1: Long-term planning

In the case of a new house, the electrical network must be built in such a way as to easily allow new additions. Even if you don't have an electric car now, you have to take into account that in a few years you may have to install a charging point for electric cars as well.

The same is true if you want to build a swimming pool, for example. The best solution is to prepare from the design phase and install several distribution boxes or tubes for the electrical cables.

Stage 2: The actual planning of the networks

It is the stage in which you have to plan the electrical network necessary for immediate power consumption. For this you need to determine how many sockets, how many switches and how many lighting sources you want to install in each room of the house.

Furthermore, you must plan ahead of time the electrical circuits intended for household electrical equipment. Some - such as the electric stove - need separate circuits and must be connected to the panel with the help of special cables.

In the case of other household appliances, it is important to know from the very beginning where you want to place them. For example: do you want to put the washing machine behind the bathroom door? It means that you must also have a socket there. Do you use a clipper or a razor? Another outlet should be near the sink.

Stage 3: Designing the electrical network - sockets, lighting sources, distribution boards

At this stage, you must work closely with the electrician and the architect, because this is the moment when the electrical network project will be added to the general architectural plan of the building. The plan will contain, in detail, the location of the electrical cable distribution boards and the location of the lighting fixtures, sockets and switches.

Lighting fixtures - for each room of the building, the plan must provide:

the destination of the room;

the type and number of lighting fixtures;

the height at which it is mounted (distance from the floor);

the electrical circuit to which it is connected;

the average level of imposed lighting.

Power receivers - are electrical equipment that needs a separate circuit, such as induction hobs or electric ovens. In their case, the position of the electrical equipment, the route of the circuits and the power columns is indicated. For conductors, bars or bars, mention the type, section and positioning.

The switches for the lighting fixtures - the place where they will be placed, the height from the floor, the number of switches and the electrical circuits attached to them.

Sockets - the area where they will be located, the electrical circuit and the type of sockets: with or without protective contact, single or double, are mentioned in the project.
